Description of Works:

  • Widening of existing bridge to include accommodate two 6.50m wide carriageway and two 2.00m wide footpaths
  • The existing bridge listed structure and works were carried out under NIEA supervision
  • Diversion of watercourse using sandbag dams
  • Pre-cast concrete pipe systems and cofferdams
  • Temporary works propping of existing masonry structure, underpinning of existing masonry structure
  • Construction of 6m high reinforced concrete retaining wing walls clad with stone masonry built in lime mortar to match the existing
  • Construction of reinforced concrete abutments below water level
  • Supply and installation of Macrete pre-cast concrete flexi arch system and precast seating beams to widen the existing masonry arch structure
  • Backfilling to wing walls and flexi arches
  • Masonry cladding and parapets to new structures including supply and installation of new voussoir (Arch ring) stones
  • Installation of drainage
  • Make up to road levels
  • Installation of kerbs, asphalt surfacing, road markings, erection of streetlighing and landscaping of surrounding areas
